GM continues to unwind its investment plan, and it’s now the turn of the site of Arlington, Texas to be an ad. Unlike the site of Detroit Hamtramck , this is especially more investment and employment, with $ 331 million and 110 jobs.
GM announced 2 billion investment and create 4,000 jobs. After Bowling Green (Kentucky) , Toledo (Ohio) , Flint (Michigan) Bay City (Michigan) and Hamtramck (Michigan) , so here come the turn of Arlington, Texas.
The Arlington site has opened doors in 1954, and has for many years large sedans assembled propulsion group. The first model assembled was a Pontiac Chieftain and was followed by models like the Oldsmobile 88 or 98, Cadillac Fleetwood, Buick Roadmaster or Invicta, Pontiac GTO, LeMans, Tempest and Bonneville, Chevrolet Impala, Caprice BelAir or ElCamino. Pick-ups began to be assembled in parallel in 1997. Then the plant was converted in 2005 to produce exclusively SUVs, while GM ceased production of its latest models on the platform powered B-Body (Buick Roadmaster, Cadillac Brougham and Chevrolet Caprice). Today is this plant so that the SUV based on the GMT900 platform, including Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade.
